Hi all,
been playing culdcept with friends for a long time on and off, and been browsing the boards for awhile, lots of good info. I'm stilll confused as to why tokebi is so useful, in general and in the HOF armageddon deck, If someone could explain i'd be a happy dude. :)

Also I'm curious as to why people dislike the hand so much it seems compared to other defensive items. In my experience it is a great defensive item as it makes people think more than they should, and can really become any item in the game.

Thanks, and looking forward to maybe playing in some tourneys or leagues

Tokebi's TA is useful because when you level a land that is on at least a 2-chain, that land becomes worth more than the G you put into it. Invest a little, use Tokebi to convert the land back to G, reinvest the profit... you get the idea. :)

Tokebi is in Armageddon to snatch away the G sitting on the empty lands after all those mass damage spells remove the lands' occupants. Move Tokebi onto the empty and sweep! G in your hand, not in your opponent's!

The Hand has its uses, and is a great deterrent just sitting in your hand. I wouldn't say that people dislike it... it's just that there are so many options for doing that job (getting rid of an opponent's item), and most of them are cheaper than The Hand and/or more versatile. I suppose it's all down to your play style... I've seen The Hand used very effectively as well.

I personally am not a big Tokebi fan either -- I've seen it used very effectively (Jasoya and Andyman) and ineffectively (can't remember who). In the right build it can be very powerful but when used 'casually' it's not that impressive.

As for The Hand you have a few drawbacks -- first there's the cost 100g kinda expensive. Second, it's tough to use for invading as it will steal Counter Amulets or Gaseous Forms renders your attack useless -- you're paying the creature cost, 100g of The Hand and then the toll OUCH! Where-as a Gremlin tooth would be much more effective. Just my opinion -- I'm far from a pro on here.

I guess the people i play with are very agressive with items, i still think you are better off substituting at least one hand for gaseous/counter amulet. Ive seen so many decks that are straight counter amulet/gaseous form, i think the hand adds versatility to your defensive options. Plus unlike counter amulets and gaseuous form, it makes nuclear fusion or tearing halo useless just by your opponent seeing you have it in your hand. so buckler cat sith is a combo you guys have listed, but the hand and cat sith is just cheap as hell.

Tearing Halo is immune to destroy or steal effects. ;)

I just have one this to say on this topic. Tokebi Sucks!

I may change my mind later (but right now I can't figure out how to play effectively with Tokebi, or against Tokebi)
