A friend of mine recommended Runespell: Overture to me, and I picked it up when it was in the Steam holiday sale. It reminds me a lot of Puzzle Quest mixed with solitaire and poker. Essentially, you have a solitaire-style stack of cards that you can move around, and you peel cards off of stacks and add them to other stacks to try to make classic poker hands (full house, four-of-a-kind, etc.) Once you complete a hand of five cards, you can "attack" and deal damage to your opponent that corresponds to the value of the hand you've put together. (A royal flush does 50 damage, while a pair deals 8.)

The whole thing is wrapped in a Puzzle Quest-style package, complete with a map you traverse, companions with reusable abilities to aid you and magic spells that you can cast in lieu of moving cards around.

The game's full price is $10.
