While Culdcept is generally appreciated as a vs-play game, there are players who play solo a lot. And they have greatly expanded the solo content in the last (first) 3DS game, to an extent rivaling Smash Bros, sort of.
In Revolt, again the solo content is very rich, more so than the last game, and also in a better layout. First of all, the main story is longer, and the story itself is better. (It really is.) Instead of having some story maps and a bunch of additional maps for the other play modes, now they make the story almost as long as they have maps. In the last game, one is restricted to playing along the main story line, and side stories would only open up as "level up stages" after your clear the entire main line. This time, the side stories ("sub stages") unlock as soon as you clear the corresponding "main stage", so if you fight an enemy and you like the enemy character, you can choose to pursue his or her side story right away while taking a break from the main stages. All unlocked stages remain available, so you can replay any stage and review its story without having to reset your progress or such. There are also "challenge quests" which group together some stages of a similar format for easy access. (e.g. When you want to play a pair match with AI teammate and opponents, you can play the pair challenge quest.)
