Hello! I am PzKwIVG, Japanese cepter.

Nintendo announced putting a Culdcept next project on the market by 3DS on Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011.
I see the presentation via Ustream, I am very surprised that the publisher is not Sega but Nintendo !!!!

As long as I saw the movie, the game system of 3DS version is based on Culdcept second (Dreamcast/Playstation2).

i hope that the international online match system will be supported.

Thanks for the head's-up! From what I can tell, it looks to be based loosely on the PS2/DC game, but it definitely has assorted features from the other games as well (I spy maps from Culdcept Saturn/PS1/DS and creatures from Saga in addition to stuff from the PS2/DC game). Overall, it looks like they've done a LOT of work making a whole new game incorporating elements from the entire series! Great news!

Now... if this will come to the West, I'll be completely happy. Given that this one is published by Nintendo themselves, it has a very strong chance to come here. Fingers crossed!

Let's all message "WE WANT CULDCEPT!!! WE WANT CULDCEPT!!!"

This will be the greatest thing since Culdcept Saga that can happen.

I am glad to here it will be based on the Culdcept PS2 version, I hope they bring back some of the Culdcept PS2 original cards I will be a really happy camper *cough* I mean Cepter. Oh if they have the Demonic Trade card that will be awesome and in addition Red Cap (hopefully, if they do have him, he will be dumbed down a bit on his ST/HP=) that would be broken. I also miss the E card Tetramorph mainly because of his -20HP to offense creatures as well as Energy Flash.

Other Cards that I miss that are exclusive for the PS2 are Golden Totem (in), Mephistopheles, Voidyanoi (in), Barometz, Gooba Queen, Spitting Cobra, Cornfolk (in), Mermecoleo, Quetzalcoatl, Wind Imp, Bandit Glove, Black Orb, Hourglass, Luna Stone, Marker Flag, Despair, Eclipse, Invisibility, Regeneration, Ruin, Shine, and Thorn Fetter, and Wing. Of course I miss other cards that are both in the Original Culdcept that are in Culdcept PS2 but it seems like some of these will be included. I will keep my fingers crossed as well, as I am psyched to hear about this new game of the Culdcept franchise.

Have a look at the front page of Central, and at the link thread above this one. You'll notice right away that many of the cards you mentioned are indeed in Culdcept 3DS. :D

I can't wait to play Culdcept where ever I go without having to remember the translation of abilities on cards like in Culdcept DS. I don't own a 3DS (I have a DS) but I will buy one just to play this game.

I went ahead and edited my earlier post just to put (in) by three cards that I seen included in the screenshots and video. Come on Nintendo bring Culdcept 3DS here cause I am going crazy right now with deck ideas  .

I'm not confident it'll come out here. Nintendo holds the publishing rights to a lot of Japanese games I'd like to play, like Fatal Frame 4, the Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles. (There's that other one, too, Pandora's Tower.) ... Lately, Nintendo's plan seems to be to squat on the rights to cool Japanese games and not bring them to America, even though some of these games have been released in England, with English translations. Sigh.

That said, I hope it'll come out here.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but the 3DS needs all the games it can get, especially here in the West. The DS already was very successful and had a massive library when Culdcept DS came out, and I imagine that played a large part in why it didn't come here. We've got awhile to wait, in any case. It'll probably be at least 6 months after the Japanese release that we'd see a release here.

Is there a more recent one than the 360 version? I know that came stateside. I am really hoping this one makes it here though. I really enjoyed the 360 version.

Culdcept DS is about 8 months newer than Culdcept Saga. The bad news is, Culdcept DS never came to the West. The good news is, some very dedicated Culdcept fans translated the Japanese game to English, and you can play the translated game if you have a flash card for your DS. :)

I'm really hoping Culdcept 3DS comes here too. Fingers crossed!

European plans are confirmed now on this game according to the subtitles on the Gametrailers trailer with the audio from the creator subtitled. If any of those are in English it is GO TIME.

I bought a 360 for Saga, I 50 medals clubbed on the PS2, and I wont describe what it took to get a hold of the DS anniversary game to play and beat it and you had to fight Zenith every match in that one. I even own the artbook and made the neogaf OT on Saga.

This game will be mine. Now if only I could get that Culdcept DS case from Japan, the card collection display made for the anniversary show in Japan, or an artbook for Saga...

EDIT: Also this seems to be a remastered version of the PS2 game with reworked character art, more character parts, and cards from every game along with new ones. What more could I ask for?

Yeah, I would imagine the European release would just about be guaranteed to be in English (and probably several other languages as well), and if it's in English, it's also just about guaranteed to be released here. They'd be nuts to miss out on the North American market if they take the time to make it in English. If that happens, this would also make Culdcept 3DS the first game in the series to be released worldwide. Pretty cool stuff.

It is based on the PS2/DC game, but from what they've said and what we've seen so far, it's really more of a Culdcept All-Stars, with cards from all the games in the series, as well as new cards too. They've definitely done a LOT of work on the game - it looks very different from the first trailer to the second one. It makes me wonder how much help Nintendo is giving them, because Culdcept 3DS looks very polished already. I can't wait.

Yeah if Europe gets this in English its likely to hit America as Nintendo rarely exclusives Europe on titles. If its in Europe I'll simply buy a European handheld and cart to play this if necessary. Its not like I haven't bought a console soully for a Culdcept title before (360/DS)

Expect me to hype this on Neogaf really soon just like I did with Saga. Really glad Europe is getting this for another reason though...apparently they didn't get Saga from what several sites claim.

Wish I had more time to play this game...I'm 6 months from finishing my animation degree and portfolio work means I have zero free time. I barely even sleep. Oh but when its over...expect some tourney time. I've gotten to play all of one match here and it was awesome for the comeback I suffered from near the end.

Awesome! The more exposure for Culdcept, the better. This series is so woefully underpromoted, it's pathetic.

Congrats on your degree! Hang in there!

Wow thanks for the frontpage Andyman! I didn't expect such a strong reaction from here for making that thread, but its got over a 1000 views already and quite a few folks seem interested in the sequel as well as want to play more of the current ones here from what it sounds like.

Glad I did my part.
I've lurked for years here, and I've just now started posting lol. Glad it made a difference somehow.

I read this article the other day

www.siliconera.com/2014/02/03/nintendo-c...ndo-3ds-titles-west/

It gives me hope that we still might see a western version of culdcept 3ds. Am i getting my hopes up for nothing? Its been quite a while now since the japan release.

Just wanted to get your feedback.

The 3DS's great success here in the West definitely gives it a better chance of coming here. Nintendo themselves being Culdcept 3DS's publisher helps its cause even more. Culdcept is also very easy to localize (the audio is already in English, leaving just the text and some graphics to translate). Also, Culdcept Saga took two years to get to the West after it was released in Japan, so Culdcept 3DS is still well within that window.

Yeah, it's definitely still possible. We probably won't hear anything about it until it magically appears here, though, if Culdcept PS2 and Culdcept Saga are any indication. Fingers crossed!

I mentioned it elsewhere, but I put in a ticket with Nintendo PR this week asking about the localization of Culdcept 3DS that was mentioned at the end of its announcement trailer back in 2011. It had a lot of content released steadily for it in Japan in terms of cards, maps, etc so I asked them if it was cancelled to their knowledge or if it was merely being pushed back until content ceased being added to the game so as to make localizing it easier.

Fingers crossed on getting a reply to this one. They might not have an answer for me if I do hear anything back, but at this point I felt it worth contacting the source through the proper media channels.

Okay I got the results back from my ticket to Nintendo PR.

My Question:
_
Customer By CSS Web (10/30/2014 05:11 PM)
Dear Nintendo PR,

I am an avid fan of a game that was announced back in 2011 for the 3DS...Culdcept 3DS. This is a puzzle/boardgame/rpg hybrid that mixes Magic the Gathering and Monopoly. At the time of its announcement in 2011, Culdcept 3DS was said to be receiving a European release at some point. Its now nearing 4 years later and no news has surfaced on this title. On Neogaf.com I am pretty much the voice for this game series and I have done what I could for the past two Culdcept titles to promote them on this board. I'd like to update those still waiting. There is still a very active community on Culdcept Central that puts out weekly events and has since the launch of the the Xbox 360 Culdcept Saga title nearly a decade ago.

To my knowledge Omiya Soft was releasing additional cards, maps, and content every other week. Has its localization been cancelled or is it just being pushed back until new content stops being added to make localizing it easier?
Sincerely,

Joshua Webb

My Response:
Response By Email (11/09/2014 07:23 AM)
Hello Joshua,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about Culdcept 3DS. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, I can certainly understand your interest in playing Culdcept 3DS. At this time we haven't announced any plans for a release here in the Americas; however, I'm happy to forward your comments so your feedback will be heard.

There are many reasons that Nintendo or any other publisher may decide to release a game in one market, but not another. These can include difficulty or cost of localization, the size and financial strength of the publisher, the size of the distribution network, and (most often) the idea that the game will simply not be accepted or enjoyed in another market.

I understand that there are (like you) real fans of these games and franchises in this market who would love nothing more than to see these titles on store shelves in the Americas. In fact, there are many of us here who share your interest in these titles. However, the number of interested fans may constitute too small a portion of the gaming public to justify the costs associated with bringing a game here. On the other hand, there have been times when decisions were made to bring certain titles to the Americas after having been released exclusively in another market.

While I can't guarantee that Culdcept will be released here in the Americas, we do take all feedback into consideration. Your comments help us to understand what is important to our gamers.

As news comes available regarding future products, we post any announcements to our website (www.nintendo.com). Keep an eye on our site for all the latest information.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.
Laura Knotts

Not really certain here because they kept talking about a US localization so the PR rep I contacted may only know of things regarding stateside releases. I only asked about the European edition announced at launch...I'd be more than willing to import the title if I could just get it in english in any country. For now, this is all I could get from Nintendo by contacting through the normal channels with PR. No news on it for states...no further update from this contact in regards to what Europes plans are. I'll try contacting Nintendo Euro next.

Pretty desperate to play Culdcept 3ds at this point. Its been 4 years...still no localization.

If I straight up buy a japanese 3ds and a copy I'll at least get to try it though I'll have to play it with my phone or tablet always locked to our card guide here.

Question though...can I still get the DLC or not for this game?

I would think it'd still be available, since the DS game's DLC was still available for a really long time. Have fun!
