djd51 and I just played our match on Provedin, Earth vs. Earth. He got the perfect shuffle, while I got royally hosed on mine. He won by 5400G without breaking a sweat in what seemed like 5 minutes flat. Hehe.

Derc and I just played our match on the hellish harbor of Cravonia (seriously, can we strangle the guy who designed that map?), and Derc pulled out a long, drawn-out scratch-and-claw fight using the Blue deck whilst I trundled along with the Air deck. This one was a rematch of last night's Round 53 Spinny Card game in Kaningun where I probably had the upper hand, but there was this Level 4 land right in my way I couldn't kill if I was unlucky enough to land on it, so we called it a rematch for today.

But seriously, Cravonia can die in a fire. GG Derc!

Pez that was a grueling match. I was unable to use Kelpie for fear that you would just whisk it away with the spells you had so I was stuck improvising. Plus you held all but one of my possessions in check which was quite annoying lol. Either way it was a tough and well fought match that I was lucky enough to roll high towards the end and proceed to victory. If you had made it around to lap you would have won. GG and Good Luck the rest of the way.

and yes, Cravonia can seriously die in a fire.

Will and I just had our match on Alcyon III, him with the Blue deck, me with the dragons... and this one just felt destined from the word go. I rolled ridiculously low repeatedly at several points in the game (a recurring theme for me this tournament), and Will bagged Trespass on me four consecutive laps as a result. Even being able to protect the Gold Idols from early on throughout and taking a Level 4 land out of his hands wasn't enough as he was finally able to get footing and build enough on the north half to claw out a win.

Derceto and I did our rematch on Melkizekiah. I used the Ogre deck, he used the Neutral deck. It was a very quiet match, only three battles throughout the whole match, and only one creature destroyed. We were navigating through a minefield, near the end we both had high level lands that neither of us could destroy if we landed on it. It ended up being a race to the Castle, relying on the dice to determine who won, and it gave me a high number and him a low.

Both of my matches have been nail biters for me. But this makes me 2-1, which I honestly thought I'd be 0-3 or maybe 1-2, so...I'm pretty happy :)

Will and I just played our match on Phoenixion. He played the Green Machine and I picked Ogres. Will had a nice high level land that gave me fits... Luckily I never landed on it, even with his HW action! :O

I built my chain of silly Ogres and started leveling here and there and everywhere. I was also rather aggressive constantly trying to knock his guys out. On the last lap, I managed to dodge the high level land again, and took the win. Fun match Will, glad you could play tonight.

Will good luck in your next game.

DJD and I just had our match on Basisk - and as soon as I saw the map, I was hoping he wouldn't take precisely the deck he did - the Green one. I took the Blue deck to try to slow him down, but after he warped once and I warped twice, we spent most of the match running circles around our own laps. He played the green deck beautifully though, and even though I made a match of it late, DJD had too much gap for me to overcome, particularly when I warped off "my" island when I was about to make it interesting, and he tromped home for the win.

GG DJD - and I guess that makes me a sad, sad 0-5 for the tourney :(

DJ and I played our match on Melkizekiah. I ran Ogres, he went with Green Machine. I had one of the worst starts I've ever had, and he kept getting Haste and Holy word 6-8. He lapped me twice and I couldn't gain momentum. However, after I managed to move my Ogre Lord away from his level 5 Mudman, Paralyzed it, and cast Chariot on the Ogre (twice), I stole the land, Protected it, and the he landed on it a turn or two later, and the score went from 2k-7k to 6k-1k in an instant. I put all the G I earned into a Green Ogre, earned enough to win, and reached the castle to secure the win.

....I'm still in shock, that was nuts. And this now puts me at 3-2, which I believe secures me a spot in the finals

djd51 and I played our match tonight on Miniature Garden. I played Ogres and he played Dragonz. There was quite a bit of action this game - many battles, lots of paralyzing, some creatures being zapped, spells flying everywhere. I built a green chain on the outer circle and invested in 25 symbols, grew the chain, leveled, and won. Good Game djd51.

DJD and I played our match yesterday and drew Alcyon II. Following my tourney long pattern of using every deck, I used the only deck left: the Green Machine. DJD also used the Green Machine and our match was pretty much a NASCAR race as we zoooomed aruond the board. I went symbols, he went with leveling up land. And while I was roundin' the bend to get the checkered flag I got hitched up on his (just) leveled up mudman and that forced me into another lap... With DJD already on the home stretch he waltzed to the castle for the win. It all boiled down to one roll but hey, that's Culdcept right? :silly:

GG DJD and gl

djd51, Willben20 and I had our 3-way tiebreaker match on Lalasati tonight. djd51 and I each used the Earth deck while Willben20 used the Air deck. It made the match VERY interesting and jeez... if the match had gone 1 lap longer, Willben20 would have won it. I took a HUGE risk 3 turns from the end and leveled a Hypno Sloth to 5 (I know, right?) and raced home for the win.

VERY fun game guys. :)

Too bad no one record this kind of matches anymore. Although there are too many capture devices on the market.
Don't play only for yourself, we can have a nice video library with replays, right here on CC!

Maxx and I played our Interchange final (re)match today. Amusingly, it was Earth vs. the Ogres (sounds like a B-grade horror movie!) once again, but this time on Santana Village. As in our match on Cravonia, Maxx was able to dominate the map. I was able to grab a fair amount of land in-between his, enough for a small chain.

My only chance was to go completely for broke, level Mudman way up, and then pray that Maxx would roll onto it or onto a space where I could Holy Word him onto it - with either of those happening before he could take it away (which he could do easily with the Ogre deck!).

Lucky for me, he did roll onto it, and that enabled me to level another Mudman way up. He did manage to take away Mudman #1, but rolled onto Mudman #2 that same turn and reimbursed me for it.

A couple of laps later, after watching my land total steadily dwindle again, I went all-in on a make-or-break move. Maxx had rolled exactly 8 spaces from a level 1 Spiny Agama I had. I was 3 spaces away from it. I hit Maxx with Holy Word 8 and prayed that I'd roll a 3 or higher. I rolled a 5 and leveled it all the way up. Thankfully, Maxx didn't draw Paralyzer, or it would have been game over right there. The toll put me about 500 over the 7000G goal, and I rolled to the castle for the win on the next turn.

Without any 1 of those 3 very fortunate turns, the match was Maxx's, no question. When I saw he went with Ogres again at the start, I was sure all was lost.

Great, great match all around. Thanks as always for being an awesome opponent, Maxx!

I recorded the entire match and I'll be uploading it to YouTube later today. I'll post the link here as soon as it's ready! :woohoo:

Andy, my sked is still where I have to be done by about 2pm pacific (5pm east coast) Thurs-Mon, Tues/Wed off. I'd be up for today, but unfortunately this is the one Wednesday I don't have open :/ I can play before work any of those... alternately I can play after midnight, but I'm guessing you're quite asleep at that point.

If I recall, you have one of those weird day-job things with weekends off, right? I can play Sunday before I go in if you like, otherwise I'll make sure I got time Tues or Weds for that thrashing you'll give me :) Of course, if Thurs or Fri works for you on that schedule, I can hop on about 11:30-noon my time and we can do it that way!

It's all over but the crying - Andy (predictably) whooped me on Second Morning today. The green monster rolled out fast, as it often does, and I couldn't get footing quickly enough to be aggressive against it like I needed to. I started to fight back, but by that time Andy had a ridiculous amount of symbols, ending with over 200, and levelling a single land (even though I'd battered him down to only three) was enough to put him over.

Congrats on both Interchange wins Andy! I can't honestly say I'm TOO disappointed... I may have went winless, but my deck wins the popularity contest and beats me... was it three or four times? Just can't be mad about that.

Thanks! My Ogre deck has your Earth deck covered very well, so my only hope was to build as big of an Earth chain as I could and level NOTHING while buying as many Earth symbols as I could. I wasn't planning to level that Mudman, but you were catching me quickly and my chain was steadily dwindling. I had already paid one big toll and knew that I'd be paying much more if I didn't gamble big and race back to the castle. Luckily for me, I was able to do that before you could kill Mudman.

Great game, Pez! I used your Earth deck in every Interchange match I played. :woohoo:

Here's the video of the match. Enjoy!

Oops! I forgot to mention that PezCat has won the Culdcept prize package for making the most popular deck in the Interchange Tourney!

He wins Culdcept II for the Sega Dreamcast and the All Japan Cepter's Cup 2001 DVD documentary, which chronicles the great tourney held for Culdcept II.

Congrats, Pez!
