TG goal = 7,000 G
Rounds = 95
Timer = 60 seconds
Land = STANDARD (not the typical shuffle)

You can switch decks between matches, or in the event of a disconnect.

Here are the opponents and maps for each match. They are sorted by player. We will each play every other player once, so we will play four games. The two best records will rematch for the title. If we have a tie break situation, I'll figure something out.

Maxx and I played the first Starter deck match tonight, and thanks to an extremely unfortunate roll for Maxx, I was then able to Holy Word 6 him onto a big toll and that decided the match. If it hadn't been for that turn, I'd have definitely lost. He had a nice array of leveled lands on the left side of Cravonia that I had no way of taking away from him, so it was just a matter of time.

Yes, that was a good game, Andyman. These starter deck matches are very interesting. I just played my second one with Derceto7 and managed to get the win. I had a rough start and luckily avoided his two big monster lands just south of the castle on Dinar Mts. I had to re-route a few times to not get hit by the large tolls. It was good playing with you derceto, we'll have to play again soon, maybe in a blind ladder match or something.

Maxx you're being too kind. I made a giant boneheaded move and got too aggressive and it bit me in the ass; I was cruising along until I tried to take max's lvl 4 land and for some reason I thought Squirrine+Griffin would be enough but alas fell 10st short. Shows how rusty I was need to start playing again more!

Beena and I played our match on Colosseum I, and I don't what I did to deserve it, but the die absolutely loved me. I kept landing exactly where I needed to, and managed to grab all 4 Earth lands and all 4 Air lands without too much trouble. Meanwhile, most of Beena's creatures were shuffled deep in her deck and she kept landing on the forts and castle. By the time her army arrived, it was too late.

But, she got to kill me with a Giant Rat, so she won the style points battle.

Just played Andyman for our match on Alcyon II. I got exceedingly lucky with some very bad rolls for Andy causing him to constantly land on my few high level territories, preventing him from getting anything going. Final score Syko 7000 Andy 1000 (closed out the game and can't see the scores anymore, that's the closest I can remember.) Good Luck on your other games Andyman! And hopefully the dice won't utterly hate you anymore.

Hehehe. I didn't think it was possible to get exhausted twice in a Starter deck match, but I guess it is!

Syko and I played our tourney match on X. It was pretty epic. We spent the first 30 rounds or so going back and forth between who was ahead. Then he surged ahead until the last 4 or 5 rounds when I somehow magically pulled out a win? Having leveled up lands on 3 sides of the castle was my saving grace.

I thought everyone might enjoy seeing the graph from the match. It looked pretty crazy, so I attached the picture.

Just played my match with Derceto. And the dice were not his friend. I got a crucial holy word 6 in to tag him with my only leveled up land for over 1000 and then leveled up my chain to win on my next lap with very nice rolls allowing me to completely avoid paying any tolls. Final Score: Syko 7620 v. Derceto 3275. Good luck in your future games boss.

Beena and I played our match tonight. I made a pretty mean play. I drew a crusher, smashed her haste, put HW1 on her, and crossed and leveled the land one in front of her. That net 1600 G swing was too much to overcome. Good Game Beean, I thought it was neat how we played opposite colors. Good Luck vs. Derceto7 (and good luck to you too Derceto )

Derceto and I just finished our tourney match (and my last matchup for this tourney) on Second Morning. This match was so close, coming down to who would get to the castle first on the last lap (6950ish to 7150ish just before I hit the castle).

We were neck and neck until about halfway through the match when I took over his creeping flame's level 3 land. He forced me to land on it with a Holy Word I. I attacked, thinking I had enough if I used an item on my creature, but I was 10 short. Within the same lap, I worked my way toward the space with a minotaur I placed on the board, rendering him defenseless against the attack on his creeping flame. After that, I steadily moved toward the goal until I was forced to land on a level 4 Lizardman (which I attacked, forgetting that he had first attack), putting us only about 500 TG apart.

Final score: 7723 Beena to 6964 Derceto

Syko and I played our match tonight. I drew my two Magic Bolts right away. Syko had a level four Woodfolk down by the S fort. He had a cure in his hand, so his Tree was safe. Until I drew a crusher. I had some pretty sick luck with the draws that came up shortly after and was able to move a Skeleton over to the vacated land, and draw a timely Woodfolk of my own to put down. He also crushered my Chain Mail while trying to cause a ruckus down by my stolen land. The next turn, I drew another Chain Mail. Crazy luck, these starter deck matches are pretty nutz.

I played my final match against andyman and while I was well on my way to an 0-4 run I finally had a little luck on my side in the end. Andy went G/Y which seems to be the most popular deck. I mixed it up and went R/B. Wall of Ice and a lvl 5 Gas Cloud were too much for andy to handle - especially a back to back HW1 to force him onto the lvl 5 gas cloud making him spill out 2800g and essentially that's what cost him the game. He had a quick start and it worried me but for once in this tourney Culdcept was on my side and I didn't land on any of his big lands.

GG andy. Wish I could spectate the FFA.

So, after many attempts to work out our schedules, Andyman, Syko, and I finally got in our semi-final match. Yay!

It was a very exciting match. I think all three of us were on the edge of our seats the whole match. As you can see in the graph, the lines remained very close for the majority of the match. We all stayed within about 500 gold of each other until Syko decided to magic bolt my level 4 Wall of Ice. I guess karma got to him, cause he wound up landing on a lot of leveled up lands throughout the match and had to sell off his symbols and whatnot.

Just before the end of the match (as Andyman put it) I had a few legendary turns. I landed exactly on the spot where the open level 4 land was, then leveled up a squirrine and had just enough TG to cross the castle. It wound up in a flat out race between Andyman and me for the castle in the end (note he had well over the total goal while I was just barely above the line).

Final scores:

I updated the first post of this thread for the final match.

Beena and I played the final match tonight on Santana Village. It was a very rough game as we slugged it out in the early goings - smashing creatures here and there. There were thoughts of me running some double magic bolt shenanigans, but Beena was wisely holding a cure, so I just scratched that theory. I had some Tornados sitting on the red wastelands (I played GY and she played BG, so no-body cared about Red). I moved leveled them slightly then changed them to Yellow to match the two Ogres I had on the other side of the map. Then Beena's luck took a turn for the worse, she pretty much landed on every leveled up (or not) land I had and then the match was over before we knew it. Good Game Beena it was fun, and I congratulate you for getting to the finals. Well Played!

When will the next tourney take place?

At this point, we're thinking Saga Bowl X will be the next tourney. We'll be posting the signup thread soon.

In the meantime, you can always challenge some folks on one or more of our Ladders - that's always great fun!
