What about these here Flame Weevils? They have Hive Worker-like qualities, but are very much lacking in one aspect... They have no queen! Sure, strength and HP becomes +20 in battle, but with only four per deck and no Hive Queen to bring out more, is there any good way to use these little guys? One could maybe use as many spells and whatnot to try and run through a deck as fast as possible to get more, but I wonder if such a strategy could be remotely as powerful as Saga's Hive Worker Army.

Hmm... that could be a fun deck. Call it "Evil Weevil".

I've been thinking more about this idea... I bet it could be feasible (though the larger the map and the longer the game, the easier it might be to get a lot of Flame Weevils in play. It still seems like a poor man's hive deck, but maybe that'd just make it more challenging. An alliance battle with double the Weevils could be devastating, though.

That last sentence makes me want to create a Team Ant Farm concept in Saga. Toss in a bunch of Mass Growth to keep the direct-damage fairy away, and just wreak havoc.

Yeah, if the team Weevil idea is worth anything at all, that would only mean that a Team Hive Worker idea is even better.

I do believe Team Ant Farm would smash Team Goblin pretty thoroughly. Well, once it got rolling anyway. It'd be pretty easy to put down 8 ants with quickness. Walk around with Revelation on and just watch the army grow.

That's the thing... in Saga, amassing an army isn't too difficult to accomplish with the Hive Queens and all the ways to use their territory ability over and over. Saga has much more tricks to get that army up and running. The poor DS Weevils are all alone, though, and must struggle to band together.

You could probably pull it off pretty well with Wind of Hope, Reincarnation, and Revival. Just cycle the deck as fast as possible. It'd be fun to try!

How does one make the best use of revival in such a situation? I know it's a card in many versions of the game, DS, PS2, Saga... Is it in every one? Anyhow, I don't know if I have ever actually used the card in play. obviously, it would be helpful if you get, say, all four Flame Weevils in your first hand, play them, and then cast revival. Chances are, though, these Weevils will be interspersed throughout the deck. If cards 20-42 contain all those Weevils, will a revival bringing your deck to square one (and thus requiring 20 turns before the next Weevil) help out?

I know revival has to be a great card... But perchance I need a lesson on its proper use.

In the weevil deck, you'd use it when you drew the 3rd or 4th weevil, to reset your deck so as to draw more weevils more quickly.

I don't have a Weevil, yet, but when I get four of them, I will put this deck together.

I have a Weevil Deck and it is actually pretty effective. The only issue is that without a card like Mass Phantasm, it isn't too hard to counter.
Keep cards like Raise Dead in there to save them if they die early and Tribal Armor to get them abusively strong very fast.
