The level up stages are a new solo-play feature in Culdcept 3DS. They are available after you have cleared the main story.

I tried playing Cratos level 10 with the deck I used to win level 9, but I lost. So, I built one specifically to beat level 10. On Cratos level 10, I and Najaran (level 10) fight against Zagol and Gemmory (both level 10). Handicap level 10 gives the character double salary and double rent, plus starting with the four elemental Lords on level 2 lands of the matching element. The enemies will quickly get lots of money through the double salary, level up their lands and then collect huge double rent from me or Najaran, so I need to be able to take down those high level lands. Yet Najaran's book is quite weak and cannot be counted on.

I don't think it is easy to win with a usual Old Willow (or Kelpie) defensive deck; one will simply be out-paced by the double salary and starting creatures, and the enemy may even win before one can develop the Old Willows.

The special points about this book:

1. Since Najaran starts with a Flame Lord on fire terrain, that satisfies the summoning requirement and enables me to use lots of creatures which require 1 Fire to summon with little risk of being unable to play them.

2. Because of the total 12 starting Lords, General Guan is ST30+60 right off the bat. Camazotz is also very good against the Lords. The enemies have no direct damage spells nor scrolls, so Decoys are excellent.

3. The double salary means the enemies often have lots of cash, and can make high level lands easily. Thus Drain Magic and Anti-Element are especially helpful.

4. Because the shape of the map is a huge loop with two castles, Territory command creatures (such as Conjurer) are not very useful. I could have used Mystic (for his instant death ability), but I overlooked it. Old Willow is not too useful, since I don't collect double rent (while Najaran does) and the map loop is too long.
